4th Phase Steel
About 4th Phase Steel
DCN sheets rival steel in tensile strength (up to 800 MPa) and electric conductivity reaching that of mercury (1 x 10^6 S/m). Yet DCN films are extremely lightweight with density of ~1.39 g/cm^3, significantly lighter than aluminum (2.7 g/cm^3), beryllium (1.85 g/cm^3) and steel (7.85 g/cm^3). DCN sheets withstand extreme temperatures and are resistant to corrosion, strong acids and bases. DCN sheet thickness can be controlled for a variety of critical applications.
Applications
Thicker DCN sheets could be used as components for pressure vessels or ballistic resistance applications such as armored vehicles. They can also be used as extremely lightweight, soft metal parts for aerospace applications
